Alpen Restaurant & Bar

History

The Alpen Restaurant and Bar in Beech Mountain North Carolina is part of the Beech Alpen Inn. The Inn was originally built by the Beech Mountain Developers in the 1970’s in a rustic style resembling the great old Inn’s of the European Alps. Since it’s original opening many great restaurants called the Beech Alpen Inn their home.  In 2006 the new owners’ Steve, Jane & Fred took the idea further, enhancing the Inn with a new modern kitchen and a new restaurant addition the Mountain view room. The design was strictly guided by the rustic style of the old Inn. The original old Fireplace room has been restored and a cozy Bar was added. The modern Time was not left out. Six large Flat Screen TV’s and also wireless Internet were added, to keep in touch with the world away from the mountains. The AC-System keeps the indoor climate most comfortable on the hottest summer days, a rare feature in the mountains.

Scenic Route

Since it’s reopening in July 2007 the Alpen Restaurant and Bar stayed open year round and helped Beech Mountain to be a year round destination again. Visitors from the surrounding counties enjoy the beautiful scenic drive from Banner Elk to  Beech Mountain on the well maintained state road 184 . The breathtaking view stretches from Grandfather and Sugar Mountain to Mt. Mitchell and Roan Mountain. Passing the Town Center at 5100 ft, the General Store on the left  and the Top of the Beech Inn on the right you will reach the Beech Alpen Inn soon after.

New Mountain View Room,

offers fine dining and great lunches in a warm atmosphere of an old fashion fireplace, rough sawn beams and one of the most interesting views in the mountains. The tables are lined up with large picture windows. A few tables feature interesting slope views, the others overlook a large mountain meadow where the deer and other wild life feeds in the evenings and on clear days the view stretches over five mountain ranges from Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.

The Dinner Menu is mouth watering and offering a wide variety for our most intriguing guests.

The Old Fireplace Room and Bar

offer the ambiance off the Old World Inn with a lighter Bar Menu. An open stone fireplace in the center compliments the Setting. Famous for our Tasty Appetizers, Salads, Quesadillas, Juicy Burgers and “Mile High Club” Sandwiches combined with the largest selection of imported and domestic Draft Beers, Fine Wines and Mixed Drink Favorites made us the In-Place on Beech Mountain for residents and guests alike. On warm days large patio doors open the room to the outdoor patio and deck.

Patio Dining

The warm southern sun with the pleasant mountain air make the patio or deck often a favorite place for Lunch, Fine Dining, or lighter Bar Fare.

Mountain Meadow and Pavillion

This is the favorite place for weddings and family reunions and many other extraordinary parties in a beautiful mountain setting. In addition to the Pavillion a tent of considerable size can be installed there if needed.
